SentSnap ("we", "us", or "our") is a free iOS app that helps you record your bouldering journey. This policy explains what data we handle and how we protect your privacy.
Key Points
- No subscriptions. SentSnap is free to use.
- Local-first. Your photos, videos, annotations, and gym records are stored on your device using Apple technologies (e.g., Photos, SwiftData). We do not run our own servers for your content.
- Planned ads (future). We currently do not show ads or use advertising SDKs. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy and provide controls consistent with platform requirements.
Information We Access
To provide core functionality, the app may request the following system permissions. Granting access is optional, but some features may not work without it.
- Photos/Library – to save and read your climbing media. Media remains on your device unless you choose to share or export it.
- Camera – to capture photos or videos directly in the app.
- Location – to help suggest or display nearby gyms on Apple Maps. Location data is used in-app and not sent to our servers.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not operate a backend that ingests your media, annotations, or gym history.
- We do not require you to create an account to use the app.
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs at this time.
Third-Party Services You May Use
Some features integrate with Apple services on your device:
- Apple Maps / MapKit – for viewing and searching nearby gyms. Apple may process data per their own policies.
- Photos (PhotoKit) – for reading/saving media on your device.
- Mail – when contacting support via email, your email provider will handle that message per their policies.
- App Store – Apple may collect basic diagnostic or usage data as described in Apple’s privacy disclosures.
Advertising (Planned)
We may introduce advertising in a future update. If we do, we will:
- Update this policy to explain what is collected by the ad provider(s).
- Follow Apple’s platform requirements for user consent and privacy controls (e.g., ATT where applicable).
- Offer reasonable controls to limit or opt out of personalized ads if supported by the ad partner and platform.
Data Retention
Your bouldering records live on your device and remain there until you delete them or uninstall the app. If you use iCloud backups, your device backups may include app data per your iCloud settings.
Your Choices
- You can revoke Camera/Photos/Location permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
- You can delete items within the app (or in Photos) to remove them from your device.
- You can contact us to ask questions or request help managing your data.
Children’s Privacy
SentSnap is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we may provide a notice in-app.
